I began my journey as an Executive Assistant in 1993, and throughout the duration of my career, I have been privileged to assist executives at diverse hierarchical levels, ranging from Vice Presidents to those in C-Level positions. Recently, within the past year, I was promoted to the role of Manager of Executive and Administration, taking on the responsibility of supervising a team of Executive Assistants while simultaneously providing executive support to the Chief Digital Officer.
I value the part of my job that involves supporting my team and inspiring them to strive for excellence. I constantly emphasize their significance and empower them to take charge and make informed decisions.
ASAP has played a pivotal role in both my personal and professional development. Over the past decade, I've been a regular attendee of their APC and EA Ignite conferences. The invaluable content provided by the trainers have elevated my skills, positioning me at the cutting edge of industry standards and best practices. Additionally, the opportunity to network and establish connections with diverse individuals within the EA community has been beneficial for my growth and development.
I believe I possess two significant abilities in my role. Firstly, I excel at efficiently overseeing the schedule of the Chief Digital Officer that I support. Given the frequent requests for his time and his typically tight availability, I take pride in my capacity to proficiently manage his calendar. I often take the initiative to delegate meetings to his direct reports when suitable opportunities arise.
My other superpower lies in empowering my team members in their roles as executive assistants. I actively encourage them to exercise their judgment and make decisions as they see fit, fully aware of their competence and capabilities. Executive assistants wear a lot of hats to ensure the seamless operation of their organizations, and they handle a multitude of responsibilities behind the scenes.
