My career journey is a testament to adaptability, curiosity, and continuous growth. Starting in Parks and Recreation, I developed a strong foundation in planning and understanding departmental operations. From there, I advanced into roles as a 911 dispatcher and positions within multiple police departments, showcasing my ability to handle high-pressure environments. As an executive assistant in two cities, I’ve honed my organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. My willingness to ask questions, stay flexible, and embrace new challenges has allowed me to craft a dynamic career full of growth and meaningful contributions.
My favorite part of my role is being the dependable go-to person for a diverse group. I thrive on building trust and being a reliable resource, whether it’s providing answers on the spot or following up days later. The relationships I cultivate, and the confidence others have in me highlight the value of what I bring to my team.
Within the last 12 months, I returned to work from maternity leave and received a promotion. I am in the process of becoming a project management professional, and in the next 3 months, I will be testing to become a certified administrative professional. In January, I will start an administrative leadership team for my city, where administrative professionals selected by their department director will meet monthly to discuss what is happening in our departments.
Administrative professionals are indeed the unsung heroes, the backbone of any organization. They are masters of multitasking, problem-solving, and adaptability, seamlessly managing countless responsibilities to ensure everything runs smoothly. Whether it’s handling intricate details like executive preferences, managing critical documents, or preparing teams for success, they are the stage producers who make the show possible, ensuring everyone shines in the spotlight. Their dedication, expertise, and attention to detail make them invaluable contributors to any team.
My family. I always want to set an example of what can be accomplished.
My professional superpower is the ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations, which allows me to think clearly, provide clear instructions, and find solutions to challenges. Whether as a dispatcher or in my current role, my calm demeanor helps me navigate difficult situations effectively and instills confidence in others around me.
